The attitude of the author in Porphyrias lover is disinterested in temptation because when the girl took off her jacket and pulled her shirt down off her shoulder and laid her head down on his shoulder and he kind of just looked at her like she was dumb. The narrator is also Passionate about violence because in the past two stories he likes killing people and in this one he opened the girls eye while she was dead and looked at her blue eyes and laughed. The narrator is also Surprised because god didn’t do anything that’s why in the piece he said “and yet god has not said a word!”(Browning) because when you do something bad god punishes you for it, but when he killed her god didn’t do anything. So it was a surprise, so maybe it was meant to be. In Porphyrias lover the imagery is giving us a visual of the interaction between the two. Like when she was inside and sitting next to the guy and took off her jacket, pulled her shirt down a little, and put her head on his shoulder. She did this to him because either she likes him, or wanted to see if he would make a move towards her when she is trying to tempt him into making a move on her, but instead of him making a move he didn’t do anything he just sat there when she was doing all of this, but what he did do was kill her. In Porhyrias lover the style is kind of noticeable but sometimes you have to find it. There is some figurative language in the piece and one part that stuck out to me was when it said “The sullen wind was soon awake, it tore the elm tops down.” It’s giving the wind features like the wind is a person and is able to sleep and awake, but I understand what it means it is saying that instead of the wind staying at its normal speed it picked up speed and got faster it is using Personification because it gives the storm more fury behind it. That’s what it means by “The sullen wind was soon awake, it tore the elm tops down.”(Browning) The Theme in Porphyrias lover is love leads to sorrow because in the story the girl was tempting the guy to make a move, and love her, but instead of him making a move he took her yellow stringed hair and took it around her throat 3 times and strangled her. Then as she is dead he looks into her blue eyes and laughs at her while she is dead. In Porphyrias Lover the word choice is depressed because he uses words like “Strangled” that’s a upsetting word because strangle is a sign of killing someone. He also uses the “Pain” that is a disturbing word because if someone is in pain it means they are hurt and that’s not a good sign they could have got hurt one of two ways, hurting themselves or somebody else hurting them like he did in the story. The reason strangled is a upsetting word is because strangled basically means death.
